Mr. Saleem Anwar, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has extensive experience spanning over 20 years in the fields of finance, taxation, audit, planning & corporate affairs in Pakistan & abroad. He joined Askari Bank in June 2008 as head of strategic planning and company secretary and was later assigned the role of CFO in April 2009.
After completing his training from M/s Price Waterhouse Coopers, Chartered Accountants, he joined Al Faysal Investment Bank Limited in 1992 where he worked till 2001 as vice president. Later, he served Faysal Bank as Financial Controller. Prior to joining Askari Bank, he served as head of finance and special projects for Islamic banking initiative of Mashreq Bank, Dubai, UAE.
Mr. Anwar is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He has participated in various professional training courses / seminars in Pakistan and abroad.
Mr. Farrukh Iqbal Khan is a seasoned banker having diversified experience over 20 years in banking sector. He joined Askari Bank in February 2010 as EVP / Country Head -Audit & Inspection Division, However, later on, designated as Chief Credit Officer where he served for more than 2 years. Currently, he holds the position of Group Head Operations.
The executive started his professional career with State Bank of Pakistan, where he served for 10 years in the field of Off-site and On-site supervision and regulation of Banks / NBFI. Later on he joined KASB Bank as Head of Audit (2004 to 2010). During his career, he got exposure in the area of Corporate Governance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Credit, Compliance and Operations.
He is serving as director on BOD of Askari General Insurance Company Ltd. (AGICO), Askari Investment Management (AIM) and 1Link (Guarantee) Limited.
Academically, Mr. Farrukh Iqbal Khan is Master in Business Administration (MBA) and professionally he holds Banking Diploma from IBP, CISA and CICA. He has also got the certificate of Directors Education from Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance.
Mr. Rehan Mir joined the Bank in January 1995 and is presently designated as the Global Treasurer at Treasury Division since December 2008. Before his designation as Global Treasure, he worked on different important assignments in the Treasury.
Mr. Mir holds a graduate degree from the University of the Punjab, Lahore. During his Banking career, he has attended a number of foreign and local training courses on treasury and Foreign Exchange operations.
He possesses over 34 years of rich Banking experience mainly comprised of treasury operations, money market and foreign exchange operations. He started his professional career in 1978 with UBL as a Trainee Officer and later on switched to Askari Bank Limited in 1995.
Mr. Rashid Nawaz Tipu joined Askari Bank as Senior Executive Vice President in March 2014 and is presently designated as Group Head Branch Banking Group.
He holds Masters Degree in Management from Arthur D. Little School of Management, USA.
Mr. Tipu possesses a rich financial sector/corporate Banking experience of over 38 years. He started his career in 1976 with UBL and later on served in Middle East Bank, Soneri Bank Ltd., PICIC Commercial Bank Ltd. and Bank Alfalah Ltd.
Prior to joining Askari Bank he was Head Operations R & MM Group at Bank Alfalah Limited.
Mr. Khurshid Zafar is presently designated as Group Head Corporate and Investment Banking Group. He joined Askari Bank Limited in July 2010 and served on key positions including Regional General Manager South and as Group Head Commercial Banking. Mr. Khurshid possesses a vast experience of over 23 years in the field of Corporate, Investment Banking, Retail and Commercial Banking.
He has served in various Investment and Commercial Banks at senior positions and has attended number of local and foreign training courses. He holds an MBA Degree from Quaid.e.Azam University, Islamabad.
Mr. Shahid Abbasi joined Askari Bank in December 2007 and is presently designated as Country Head at Audit & Inspection Division since September 2011. Before his designation as Country Head, he worked on different important assignments related to audit and inspection.
Mr. Abbasi qualified as a chartered accountant in Year 2001 and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He has attended various professional training courses/seminars within Pakistan and abroad.
He possesses over 13 years of Post Qualification experience in the field of External Audit, Internal Audits, Accounts and Finance. He was trained with M/s Coopers & Lybrand, Chartered Accountants, (now Pricewaterhousecoopers). Before Joining Askari Bank he has worked with Askari Leasing Limited, Saudi German Group and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited. Earlier he served Askari Bank from January 2005 to January 2007.
Mr. Zain Ul Abidin joined Askari Bank in March 2009 and is designated as Country Head Compliance & Data Division since September 2011.
Mr. Abidin holds Masters degree in Economics from University of Peshawar and MBA in Banking & Finance from Allama Iqbal Open University. He has attended a number of training courses.
He possesses over 16 years of diversified Banking experience. He started his professional career in 1997 with State Bank of Pakistan by qualifying in State Bank Officer Training Scheme (SBOTS-III) and has served in Banking Inspection Department and Exchange & Debt Management Department.
In September 2004, he moved to Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan where he served in NBFCs Department, Specialized Companies Division for over four years as Joint Director Monitoring & Inspection Wing.
Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Abrar Ali joined Askari Bank Limited in August 1997 in Branch Banking and served at various positions such as Area Manager, Branch Manager, Chief Manager etc. He possesses diversified experience of over 26 years in Commercial Banking, Credit and Operations. He holds MBA degree from University of the Punjab , DAIBP and qualified Pakistan Banking Services Commission.
He started his professional career in 1988 as Sales Officer in M/s Packages Ltd, Lahore for almost (2) two years. He also served as Dy. Manager Marketing with Punjab Tourism Development corporation Pakistan. Later on he joined Habib Bank Limited in 1992 after qualifying Pakistan Banking Services Commission competitive exam and worked there as Incharge Advances & Marketing in main branch Islamabad,prior to joining Askari Bank Ltd.
Presently he has been designated as Regional General Manager, North – II.
Mr. Rizwan Hameed holds MPA degree from Quaid-e-Azam University. He has over 23 years of banking experience in the areas of Corporate, Commercial, SME and Operations.
He started his banking career in 1991 with BCCI (Subsequently converted into Habib Credit & Exchange Bank) as Batch Trainee and later on served in Union Bank, Askari Bank and National Bank. Prior to joining he was working at Asset Recovery Group of National Bank and also headed their Corporate Banking Units of North and Lahore.
He worked at various positions at Head Office after rejoining Askari Bank in April 2012 and presently is working as Country Head – Credit Division.
Mr. Saulat Hameed joined Askari Bank in 1997 and is presently designated as Regional General Manager – Central. Earlier, he worked on different important assignments related to branch banking operations which includes Chief Manager, Area Manager.
Mr. Hameed holds MBA degree from University of the Punjab and has attended a number of training courses. He is also Diploma Associate of Institute of Bankers in Pakistan (DAIBP).
He possess over 32 years of diversified banking experience. He started his professional career in 1980 with Bank of Credit & Commerce as MTO and later on served in BCCI Lahore. He also served in BCCI Oman and Bank Dhofar Al Omani Al Fransi as Branch Manager in various branches in Oman before joining Askari Bank
Mr. Abdus Samad Khan has joined Askari Bank as Executive Vice President and Executive Incharge in May 2012. He was given additional charge of Country Head � HRD in October 2012.Mr. Samad is presently designated as Country Head Agriculture & Rural Business Development.
Mr. Samad holds an MBA Degree and is a Diploma Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. He has been director on the Boards of Commercial Bank/Investment Bank/AMCS/Leasing and Insurance companies and remained a member on the Board of Governors of Sarhad University at Peshawar. He has attended a number of local & foreign training courses, workshops and seminars.
He possesses diversified banking experience spanning over 33 years in the field of Commercial, Corporate, Treasury and Investment Banking. He started his career in 1978 with Habib Bank Limited and within few years was posted overseas at Bahrain to Head the Offshore Banking Unit of HBL. In 1993 he became the Treasurer of HBL during which he founded the FMA (Financial Markets Association of Pakistan).
In 1998 he joined Saudi Pak Industrial & Agricultural Investment Company Limited as EVP and Country Head Treasury & Capital Markets. He also served at Capital Development Authority for two years as Head of Investment Management with the status of Member.
Prior to joining Askari Bank he was the Chief Executive Officer of First Dawood Investment Bank Limited.
Mr. Fahd Sardar Khan joined Askari Bank as Senior Vice President and Country Head Islamic Banking Services Division in July 2013.
Mr. Sardar holds Masters Degree in Business Administration with majors in Finance & Marketing from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
He possesses over 15 years of diversified professional experience both in conventional and Islamic banking.
He started his professional carrier with Askari Bank as Management Trainee Officer and later on served in Faysal Bank, Saudi Pak Bank and Bank Alfalah Islamic Bank. Prior to joining Askari Bank he was Regional Manager – North of Bank Alfalah Islamic Bank.
Mr. Rashid Zaman Khan joined Askari Bank as Deputy Chief Information Officer in Sep 2013 and is presently designated as Chief Information Officer.
He possess 19 years diversified Information Technology experience in banking as well as other industries.
Mr. Zaman holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from The Institute of Management Sciences, Lahore and started his professional career in 1996 with Softnet Systems. Later on he served at IT Matrix – Saudi Arabia, United Bank Limited and KASB Bank Limited.
Prior to joining AKBL, he was working at KASB Bank Limited as Chief Information Officer.
Mr. Sher Afgan Khanzada joined Askari Bank in October 1996 and is presently designated as Regional General Manager of North Region.
Mr. Afgan holds MBA degree from the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad and has attended a number of training courses.
He possesses over 17 years of rich Banking experience mainly comprised of branch banking. He started his professional career in 1996 as Management Trainee Officer with Askari Bank Limited and worked on key managerial positions of Chief Manager and Area Manager.
Mr. Jafar Raza has done MBA (Finance) from IBA, Karachi. He also holds Masters in Commerce degree from University of Karachi. He has over 15 years of banking experience in the areas of Corporate Relationship Management, Financial Institutions, Islamic Banking Products, Structured Finance, Corporate Finance, Syndication and Debt Capital Markets. He started his career in 2000 with Bank AL Habib Limited as Management Trainee and later on served in United Bank Limited and Bank Alfalah Limited. He rejoined Bank AL Habib in June 2007 to set up Investment Banking function. Before joining Askari Bank he was working in Bank AL Habib as Head of Syndication & Debt Capital Markets.
Mr. Rashid holds Masters Degree in Business Administration from Hamdard University of Management Sciences, Karachi. He possesses diversified experience of over 19 years in different areas of banking. He started his banking career in 1995 with Bank Al-Habib as Management Trainee Officer and worked there at different positions. Prior to joining Askari Bank he was serving there as Deputy General Manager & Area Chief managing business & branches at Karachi.
He joined Askari Bank on April 14, 2015 as EVP and Regional General Manager – South I.
Mr. Shahid Alam Siddiqui is a seasoned professional with over 26 years of rich banking experience in national and international financial institutions; comprising almost all the areas of banking functions including Business, Operations, Credits, FX, Consumer Banking etc. He holds a Master Degree in Business & Finance from England.
He started his banking career with Bank of Credit & Commerce International -BCCI and afterwards joined Askari Bank Ltd as one of the pioneer team members in 1992.
Mr. Siddiqui remained at diverse management positions in Branch Banking and Consumer Banking Groups of Askari Bank Ltd until 2007 and then moved to UK where he served as a Regional Business Head in United National Bank. He came back and rejoined Askari Bank Ltd in 2012 as SVP – Operations Group and worked at different main stream management positions under direct reporting to the President & CE of the Bank.
Mr. Shahid Alam Siddiqui was designated as Regional General Manager – North II before becoming Country Head Consumer Banking Division
Mr. Abdul Waseem joined Askari Bank in June 2000 and is presently designated as Country Head -Credit Administration Division since September 2011. Earlier he worked on different positions at Commercial Banking Group and Regional Offices and as Acting Group Head Operations.
Mr. Waseem holds M.Com degree from University of the Punjab and has attended a number of training courses.
He possesses over 28 years of experience. He started his professional career in 1984 with Habib Bank Ltd and later on switched to Askari Bank in 2000.
Mr. Zahid Afzal joined Askari Bank Limited in January 2003 in Branch Banking and served at various positions at field and Head Office. He was designated as Country Head – Systems & Operations Division in October 2014. He possesses diversified experience of over 20 years in Retail, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Compliance and Operations.
He started his banking career in 1994 with Bank Al Habib Limited as Trainee Officer and later on served in Bank Alfalah and Saudi Pak Commercial Bank in different capacities.
He holds MBA degree in Banking & Finance and Masters in Economics from University of the Punjab and DAIBP I from Institute of Bankers Pakistan.
Mr. Bakar Ahmed brings with him a rich banking experience presenting an impeccable portfolio of HRM earned during the course of over 20 years of progressive responsibility and achievement in the field. He is a Senior Certified Professional of HR accredited by Society of Human Resource Management, USA.
He is also a Silver Medalist from LUMS, MBA (Ex) program Lahore and has Bachelors in Civil Engineering (UET).
He remained the Chairman Staff Grievance Resolution Committee dealing with HR related issues of Transfer/Posting, Harassment, Compensation, Career Progression, Attitude and promotion.He has a passion for HR development and has also headed the Training & Development of the Bank.
He started his professional career in 1995 with Habib Bank Limited by qualifying through Pakistan Banking Services Commission competitive exam and served in Operations, Credit and HR in the field. In January 2005, he moved to AKBL where he served as Faculty and later on Principal at Training Academy.
Mr. Asim Asif started his career with BCCI (Bank Of Credit & Commerce Int’l) as Management Trainee Officer in 1990. He possesses diversified banking experience of 25 years particularly in Retail, Commercial, & Corporate Banking and worked at different leading positions i.e. Regional General Manager, Head of Corporate & Commercial, Regional Commercial & SME Head, Area Manager and Branch Manager. Moreover, he has also served as an Instructor for Foreign Trade & Corporate Banking. He remained a member of recruitment committee in his previous organization.
Before joining Askari Bank Ltd. he was heading Corporate South at Bank Alfalah Ltd. He joined Askari Bank in November 2013 as Head of Corporate & Commercial – South and is presently designated as Regional General Manager – South II.
He holds MBA degree from Institute of Business Management and is a Diploma Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan.
Mr. Asim Bashir is Country Head Branchless Banking . He joined Askari Bank in December 2002 as Manager Credit Card Center Lahore. He moved to Consumer Banking in 2004 at Head Office and managed its Policy, Strategic Planning & Product Development. In 2009, he was given the assignment in Marketing & Strategic Planning Group.
Prior to joining Askari Bank, he started his career with Bank of America in 1990 and managed various assignments in general banking, bankcards & acquiring business till 2000.
He has done MBA (Executive) from Szabist and also holds post graduate professional certifications in Human Resource Management from NUST & Project Management from Szabist.
In 2013, he was assigned the responsibility of re-organizing the Alternate Delivery Channels as its Country Head for smooth delivery of services to the bank customers through ATMs, Internet Banking, Call Center, Online Customer Support & Debit Cards.
Bank’s new call center was set up in record 45 days, established Bank’s eChannels Unit with the prime responsibility of ATMs network expansion and ATMs related service monitoring. The Bank’s ATM network grew by 44% during the tenure of responsibility. Maintained a service uptime ranging between 94% to 95% on ATMs.

Mr. Ali Hemani joined Askari Bank as Senior Vice President in November 2013 and is presently designated as Country Head Marketing & Product Development Division.
Mr. Ali is Bachelors in Science in Computer Information System/Business Management from Devry University. He brings with him over 10 years of diversified professional experience in the field of Marketing & Business Development.
He started his professional career in 2003 with Bond Advertising, Karachi and later on served in AKD-Securities, Karachi, AKD-Trade, Karachi and KASB Bank Limited.
Prior to joining Askari Bank he was Head of Marketing at KASB Bank Ltd.
Mr. Tariq Mehmood joined Askari Bank in November 1996 and is presently designated as Country Head – General Services Division.
Mr. Tariq holds ACMA degree from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountant Pakistan, and has attended a number of training courses.
He started his professional career in 1995 and possesses over 19 years of rich Banking experience. Later on he joined Askari Bank Limited and worked on various key managerial positions.
Mr. Waseem Ijaz Mian holds MBA degree from Preston University. He has over 21 years of banking experience in the areas of SME/Commercial, Corporate Banking & Branch Banking Operations. He started his banking career in 1994 with Faysal Bank Limited in Credit Department and later on served at Bank Alfalah. Prior to joining, he was working there as Branch Manager-Corporate Branch North Region.
He joined Askari Bank in December 2013 as Senior Vice President/Regional Commercial & SME Head-North and is presently working as Country Head – SME Division.
Mr. Nadeem holds MBA degree from IBA, University of Punjab, Lahore. He has over 21 years of banking experience in the areas of Credit & Branch Banking Operations. He started his banking career in 1994 with Union Bank Limited & joined Askari Bank in 1999.
He has worked at various positions at Head Office, and is presently serving as SVP/Country Head – Risk Management Division
Mr. Zahid Hassan Qureshi joined Askari Bank in December 2009 and is presently designated as Country Head at Special Asset Management Division since June 2013. Earlier, he worked on different important assignments related to Special Asset Management.
Mr. Qureshi holds a graduate degree from University of the Punjab, he has also qualified DAIBP (Part-1 & 11) and has attended a number of training courses.
He possesses over 35 years of diversified banking experience specifically in the areas of Banking Operations, Business Fields & Special Asset Management. He started his professional career in 1978 with Allied Bank Limited and later on served at KASB, PICIC Commercial Bank and NIB Bank Ltd.
Mr Ejaz M Siddiqui joined Askari Bank in 1994 and at present, is designated as Regional General Manager – Central II. Earlier, he has served at different important assignments in Commercial and Branch Banking.
Mr Siddiqui holds an MBA degree and started his banking career from Saudi Arabia where he served in Arab National Bank for 10 years. He possesses over 29 years of diversified experience in branch banking, operations particularly in the area of corporate / commercial lending. He has participated in numerous in-house courses and training and development programs arranged by different agencies.
He is also holder of Islamic Banking Certificate from NIBAF, Karachi since 2011.
Mr. Khurram Tariq holds an MBA Degree from NUST. He has over 13 years of banking experience in the areas of risk management, credit and branch banking operations.
He started his professional career in 2002 with Askari Bank Limited as a management trainee. Upon completion of comprehensive training, he served at various leadership positions in the headoffice, such as Area Incharge-Credit Division, Senior Credit Officer (SCO)-Credit Division, and Head-Credit Risk.
Mr. Adil Zaidi joined Askari Bank as Senior Vice President in July 2013 and is presently designated as Country Head International Banking Division. He also remained Country Head Human Resource Division from September 10, 2013 to February 16, 2014 in addition to his assignment as Country Head International Banking Division.
Mr. Zaidi holds B.A. Degree in Economics & Political Sciences from University of the Punjab and has attended number of training courses.
He is a seasoned banker with 38 years of diversified professional experience in different banks based in Africa, United Kingdom, UAE and Pakistan having core competencies in International & Correspondent Banking.
He started his professional carrier with Habib Bank Limited as Management Trainee Officer and later on served in BCCI, Union Bank and Askari Bank.
Earlier he remained associated with Askari Bank from June 2003 till January 2012 and retired upon attaining age of superannuation. He worked at different positions in the capacity of Country Head International Banking Division, Country Head Foreign Trade and Divisional Head Operations etc.
Mr. Umar Shahzad is a seasoned professional with an extensive experience spanning over 17 years in the fields of finance and corporate affairs at national and multinational companies.
Mr. Shahzad joined Askari Bank in June 2014. He holds Masters in Commerce from the Hailey College of Commerce and LLB from the National Law College, Punjab University. He is also a fellow member of the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan. He also has a Certificate of Directors Education from Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG).
He started his professional career in 1997 with Rupafil Limited and later on served in Nestle Pakistan Limited. Prior to joining Askari Bank, he was Deputy Company Secretary at Nestle Pakistan Limited. He has attended a number of training courses, workshops and seminars on corporate governance and corporate compliance.
Lieutenant General Muhammad Mustafa Khan, HI (M) (Retired) joined the Board of Directors on June 20, 2013.
Lieutenant General Muhammad Mustafa Khan, HI (M) (Retired), was commissioned in Pakistan Army in April, 1974. During his long meritorious service in the Army, the General Officer had been employed on various command, staff and instructional assignments including the prestigious appointment as Chief of General Staff and Corps Commander of a Strike Corps/Commander Central Command.
The General is a Graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta and Command & Staff College Fort Leavenworth USA. He is also a graduate of Armed Forces War College Islamabad (National Defence University) and completed Senior Executive Course from USA and holds Master Degrees in War Studies and International Relations. He has attended Finance for Executives Course at INSEAD France.
In recognition of his meritorious services, he has been conferred the award of Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military). The General brings along a vast and diversified experience in operational, administration, management and evaluation systems up to various level of Command.
Presently the General holds the offices of Managing Director of Fauji Foundation and is Chairman on the Board of various Fauji Group of Companies including Fauji Cement Company Limited, Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited, Fauji Cement Company Limited, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (Formerly Mari Gas Company Limited), Fauji Kabirwala Power Company Limited, Foundation Power Company (Daharki) Limited, Daharki Power Holdings Limited, Fauji Akbar Portia Marine Terminal Limited, FFC Energy Limited, Foundation Wind Energy-I Limited, Foundation Wind Energy-II (Pvt) Limited and Managing Director of Fauji Oil Terminal & Distribution Company Limited. After the recent acquisition of Askari Bank Limited by Fauji Foundation Consortium, Managing Director Fauji Foundation is also Chairman of the Bank.
